We misquote the scripture as God gives us the desires of our heart. But Psalms 37:4 states, “Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalms 37:4, New American Standard. Bible Gateway, biblegateway.com. Accessed February 19,2025). When our hearts line up with His will, so do our desires. But sometimes we desire things that are not in God’s will. God Says NO and we move forward in disobedience. It was God’s will to have personal relationships with the children of Israel, but they sent Moses and later requested to have kings. God is sovereign but allows us free will, but with free will also come consequences. The children of Israel consequence were seasons of good and bad kings.
As we look at the conditions of the world, we must remember. God had a plan, and we aborted the mission then, and we abort the mission now. And we live under the consequences of poor decisions then, and poor decisions now. But through the act of surrender, we can get back on track. We can return to a position of delighting God, accepting His NO, and receiving the desires of our hearts that align with His will. Because looking at the history of disobedience should cause us to apply the full scripture.
