Spiritual Discernment

Romans 12:2

Place Your Life Before God

12 1-2 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. (The Message Bible. Have you ever experienced a thought, a feeling in your heart, or a stirring in your gut about a person, place, or thing? Did you try to rationalize it away but were unable to shake it? And the very thing came to pass, but you view the results as something you created by speaking it into existence, or the laws of attraction.

No! We are spirits wrapped in flesh. Spiritual discernment is a form of communication for us. It’s an internal alarm, a heightening of awareness, a protective foresight that we should pay attention to. We often do not receive a full drawn-out plan of events, but we know something beyond what we see is happening here. This is a time when we need to focus, listen to the Holy Spirit, or pray to God for clarity.

We are being prepared for something and need to recognize what our spiritual discernment is trying to tell us. Cultivating our spiritual awareness can prevent us from being caught off guard and assist with avoiding many life calamities. There is protection for our hearts and control over our souls when we understand, connect with, and use the power of discernment.

Prayer:

Most gracious Heavenly Father you are Lord of all. We thank you for the plans for us and desire for us to prosper and be in good health. Teach us the many ways that you speak, warn, and protect us during our daily lives. Endow us with your power, love, and wisdom so that we may avoid the pitfalls of life. We understand that trials come but communing with you prepares us for challenges. Heighten our spiritual discernment so that we do not confuse it for a subconscious thought but be confident that you are trying to get our attention. Stretch our faith, enlarge our territories, be our righteousness as we journey through life, and we will forever praise your name in the Earth.

In Jesus Name,

     Amen
