Straight From the Heart – Connections

As a Christian, I have reflected on my past relationships. And I’ve connected with people that God didn’t intend for me to connect with. Either I ignored His warning, didn’t consult Him about bringing this person into my life, or moved out of His timing to establish the foundation before developing the relationship.

Whatever the reason, the relationship ends, and I am left with the consequences. Yes, God restored me. Yes, people realize they have lost a valued child of God, and some have suffered from the headache and heartache they caused me. But God didn’t want me to suffer. He wanted me to avoid the situation. However, I used my free will and reaped the consequences.

In hindsight, it could have been much worse. I can see where God protected me from destruction. Honestly, I have suffered gossip, financial shambles, and near-death experiences. But once I removed myself from the situation, God delivered vengeance on them.

All of this has taught me. I simply cannot connect to everyone and shouldn’t entertain anyone before running them through the eyes of the all-knowing God. Connections are important to my journey and to my God. The wrong connection doesn’t destroy my purpose, but causes distractions and delays. While the right connection brings support and ease. I also can avoid consequences when I submit everyone and everything to God and trust His instructions.
