In 2024, it felt like many people were dying. The threat of COVID was diminishing. And the death toll awareness dimmed, but I could not help but notice the continual loss of life. To not burden others with my thought, I internalized my feelings. I considered the tombstone and, more specifically, the dash on the tombstone. I have heard, spoke, and pondered about the dash on tombstones. But this time, I thought only of myself. I love God; I have faith and make strives to be obedient to His word and the work of kingdom building. Yet the totality of my dash made me sad. Because if my life ended today and my dash scrolled before my eyes, I will have spent more time walking in darkness than in light. And my thoughts were not of eternity in hell, but the wasted time on earth. But the Holy Spirit interrupted the thought with something I want to share with you.
My time in darkness was a time of prioritizing, passion, and preparation. Prioritizing God and His kingdom in my life. Developing the passion to rely on and wait for the installation of my purpose. And preparing to face the challenges and responsibilities that go with it all. I went from sad to encouraged. And now I want to encourage you as well. We are to be encouraged at any age of enlightenment. If our purpose begins in our age of wisdom, God planned it that way. Don’t worry about the time. Don’t rush. And please don’t miss the opportunity to build the kingdom, thinking it’s too late. If Jesus returns while we are purposefully working. If we lose our earthly life and this flesh returns to the dust. Even if we start today and live more future life than past life walking in the light. It’s God’s plan for us.
