When we desire change, we must eat the word of God. Eating the word is a metaphor meaning intentionally allowing the word to flow through us. The Bible is our spiritual food, and like our natural food, let’s not quickly devour the pages, causing digestive issues. Like prematurely feeling full before we gain the nourishment intended. Or receiving too much information too fast, overloading our brain and not receiving the knowledge intended.
Instead, let’s mindfully consume the word, digest it slowly, and allow it to work in our bodies. Allow the word to flow through our minds to correct our thought patterns. Flowing through our hearts heals us from the trauma of the world. Delivering us from spiritual spouses, lust, and ungodly soul ties by flowing in our loins. Nourishing our organs with long life and good health, purging our inner man from the damage of sin so that it comes out in the drought.
Eating the word causes spiritual transformation. Our outer appearance glows from the inner work that has taken place. And the power of God can and will flow from us to those around us, because we have changed.
